The Downtown of Atlanta

The “downtown” is a district of skyscrapers or adjacent jurisdictions, hotels, restaurants and luxury shops.

The State Capitol, seat of government of Georgia, is a neoclassical building recognized by its gold dome.

Among the skyscrapers, the Peachtree Center Plaza Hotel is the tallest hotel in the United States. It includes a panoramic restaurant on top.

Underground Atlanta and Peachtree Center Mall are about the only mall (shops, restaurants …) was important center. (Downtown is primarily an administrative center, Atlanta locals often doing their shopping in suburban malls?)

The beginning of Sweet Auburn, the historic Black neighborhood and Martin Luther King, Downtown also starts with the King Center and other monuments being dedicated to him. Many attractions of Downtown (Coke, Aquarium, CNN …) are concentrated around Centennial Olympic Park.

A Downtown are the World of Coca Cola, CNN, the Georgia Aquarium, the APEX Museum, the Georgia Dome Stadium, Centennial Olympic Park, a neighborhood of art galleries interesting south of Walker Street. Grant Park is south-east of Downtown, Sweet Auburn just is, and very Cimetary Oakland in the East.
